A total of 16,619 graduating students—comprising 5,172 senior high school and 11,447 elementary pupils—have received PhP 1,500 in educational assistance. These incentives are granted under City Ordinance No. 551, Series of 2019, and City Ordinance No. 1110, Series of 2023.
City Ordinance No. 1110, Series of 2023, provides for the granting of financial assistance amounting to one thousand five hundred pesos (PhP 1,500) to every graduating senior high school (Grade 12) student in all public schools in Valenzuela City. In addition to the standard assistance, the ordinance grants further incentives to the top five honor students of each graduating batch. The top 1 honor student receives an additional PhP 1,500; the top 2 receives PhP 1,000; and the top 3, 4, and 5 each receive PhP 500.
In his short message during the distribution of educational grant, Mayor WES commends the students for their tenacity in achieving high-quality education. “Huwag niyo po akong pasasalamatan dito sa binibigay nating financial assistance. Hindi ko po pera ito, pero po ng taumbayan ito—at pera po ng Lungsod ng Valenzuela. Ako po ay natutuwa [at] nagagalak sa achievement na nagawa ninyo dito sa ValNat (Valenzuela National High School). I wish you all the best sa inyo pong pagpasok sa kolehiyo... Ano mang unibersidad ang inyong napili, tandaan niyo po, mga kasama, ang dugong Valenzuelano ay nasa loob niyo. Nasaan man kayo, taas-noo po ninyong dalhin at iwagayway ang bandera ng Valenzuela City,” he said. [I am not the one to thank for the financial assistance we are providing. This is not my money, but the people's money—and the resources of the City of Valenzuela. I am pleased and delighted with the achievement you have made here at ValNat (Valenzuela National High School). I wish you all the best as you enter college... Whatever university you choose, never forget that the core of being a Valenzuelano is within you. Wherever you are, hold your heads up high and take the pride of Valenzuela City with you].
Valenzuela City, recognized as a livable and forward-thinking city in Metro Manila, places a strong emphasis on providing quality education for all. The distribution of financial assistance will run citywide until May 24, 2025, covering all the student beneficiaries of the program.
