The city government of Valenzuela has recently opened two more 3S (Sentro ng Sama-samang Serbisyo) Centers in Brgy. Karuhatan and Brgy. Malanday, two of the most densely populated urban hubs in the city, that aim to further bring convenient and efficient local government services closer to residents.
Mayor REX Gatchalian and city officials led the inauguration and blessing ceremonies of the facilities as part of the recent 17th Charter Day celebrations that culminated on Feb. 14.The two additional centers bring to a total of eight existing 3S Centers in the city, which officials have also called as “city hall annex buildings” or “little city halls.”
The Karuhatan 3S Center houses a rescue satellite station, a fire substation, a police community precinct, a social welfare and development office, a health station, a day care center, a multi-purpose hall, and a Serbisyo Center were the public can avail the services of Local Civil Registry, City Treasurer and the City Business Permits and Licensing Office. Malanday 3S Center meanwhile will have the new barangay hall, a police community precinct, a health station and a multipurpose hall.
Both multipurpose halls of 3S Centers Malanday and Karuhatan may also be converted into an evacuation center.
The first 3S Center was inaugurated in Brgy. Polo on September 25 last year. Similar structures were subsequently opened and are now in full operation in the barangays of Bagbaguin, Dalandanan, Lawang Bato, Parada, Punturin,
The chief executive said the network of 3S Centers that are built across strategic locations in the city are part of his administration’s strategy to decentralize the local government and to serve as “peripheral nerves” of the city government during disasters and emergencies.
Mayor Gatchalian in an earlier statement said “The buildings will prove helpful during disasters. Through these public service stations, the local government will be able to quickly respond to the needs of city residents affected by calamities.”
The city is set to open five more 3S Centers before the yearend and two others in 2016.
