VALENZUELA CITY - Promotion of trade and investment is highlighted at the City of Valenzuela - Municipality of Altavas, Province of Aklan sisterhood agreement.

This was emphasized by City Mayor Sherwin T. Gatchalian and Municipality Mayor Denny D. Refol of Altavas, Aklan, after inking the memorandum of agreement at the Social Hall of host city, Valenzuela, as witnessed by their respective local government officials.

Mayor WIN is optimistic that, “this twinning relationship could be greatly influential in transforming some marginalized sectors into a productive business mechanism.”

Named as the best performing city by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Valenzuela continues to seek for effective technology transfers enhanced by agricultural productivity to generate more livelihood and employment opportunities.

Altavas is at par of this livelihood advocacy since the launching of Farmers Information and Technology Service (FITS) in their locality in 2009.

On economic development strategies, the sister-localities both undertake enterprise development activities for sustainable development.

As part of the 14th City Charter Day Anniversary Celebration, Mayor WIN gave recognition to the Top Taxpayers of the city based on the size and type of their enterprises – small, medium, and large to pay tribute to their contribution to the progress of the city.  Top job providers were honored, as well, as acknowledgement of their unwavering support to generate job opportunities for the Valenzuelanos.

Similarly, Altavas manifests its ambitious platform by collaborating with Germany’s co-sponsored “Small and Medium Enterprise Development for Sustainable Employment Program” (SMEDSEP), a development project oriented to optimize resources for holistic economic growth.
