A few days before Mayor WIN Gatchalian steps down from his mayoralty post, Valenzuela City has been named as one of the "Champions of Health Governance," handed by pharma firm Merck Sharp & Dohme (MSD), Kaya Natin! Movement for Good Governance and Ethical Leadership and the Ateneo School of Government.

Valenzuela City (represented by city health officer Dr. Jaime Exconde, bottom left), together with Tayabas, Quezon; Carmona, Cavite; San Pablo, Zamboanga del Sur; and Anilao, Iloilo, were the top five finalists of the nationwide search, participated by 48 local government units in the Philippines.
