The official opening of the 17^th Sentro ng Sama-samang Serbisyo (3S) Center in Barangay Pulo kicked off the weeklong celebration of City Mayor REX Gatchalian’s birthday on January 18.

Mayor REX led the inauguration of the new 3S Center located on Guanzing Street in Barangay Pulo.

Also in attendance were 1^st District Representative WES Gatchalian, Vice Mayor Lorena Natividad-Borja, Councilors Chiqui Carreon, Ramon Encarnacion, and Ghogo Deato Lee. Barangay Pulo Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Council headed by Chairman Carl Ahron Manansala and barangay captains of several nearby barangays likewise graced the affair.

The event started with Rev. Fr. Sonny Dazo Sr. blessing  the 3S Center, and  was immediately followed by a ribbon cutting ceremony and the unveiling of the marker of the said facility.

The Barangay Pulo 3S Center is a two-storey building with a spacious Barangay Office, Alternative Learning System (ALS) Center, SK Office, and a Multipurpose Hall.

In his speech, Mayor REX explained the rationale behind putting up a 3S center in a small barangay like Pulo, “Naniniwala kami na bawat Valenzuelano, pantay-pantay tayo. Galing ka man sa maliit o malaking barangay, kapag may pangangailangan sa inyong lugar hindi na dapat pinag-iisipan. Ginagawa na lang po. (We believe that all Valenzuelanos are equal. It does not matter whether you came from a small or big barangay, if there is need to be met, we do not think about it anymore. We just take action.)”

3S Centers are integrated government facilities which serve two purposes: governance and pre-positioning of disaster response equipment and supplies.

Six more 3S Centers will be opened by the end of the year, bringing its total number to 23.
