As part of the culmination of its 400th founding anniversary, the City of Valenzuela celebrates the 49th Metro Manila Film Festival Parade of Stars, featuring the parade of floats of ten (10) film entries across key cities of CAMANAVA. A closing program that sheds a spotlight on the celebrities starring in the entries and a film-showing event took place at the Valenzuela City People’s Park and Amphitheater on December 16, 2023.

History was made as the 49th Metro Manila Film Festival Parade of Stars has chosen the cities of CAMANAVA to promote this year’s participating films. The parade kicked off at the Navotas Centennial Park, wherein the decorative floats and cast of the selected film entries began their three-hour-long parade. The annual Metro Manila Film Festival Parade of Stars is hosted and organized by the Metro Manila Development Authority.

The kick-off program at the Navotas Centennial Park began with messages and welcome remarks from the MMDA Acting Chairman, Atty. Don Artes, and the city mayors of CAMANAVA namely Mayor WES Gatchalian, Mayor John Rey Tiangco, Mayor Dale Gonzalo Malapitan, and Mayor Jeannie Sandoval expressed their support for the annual celebration.

Ten (10) film entries were selected for this year’s MMFF. The first four participants were announced last July 2023, while the new batch of seven films announced last October 2023 completed the roster. The following films that will be featured this year were Firefly, When I Met You In Tokyo, Rewind, Broken Hearts Trip, Mallari, Penduko, Gomburza  Family Of Two, K(a)mpon, And Becky & Badette. Packed with a mixture of genres such as drama, romance, action, horror, and history – MMFF 2023 encapsulates the colorful culture and history of the country through modern storytelling.

Gracing the Parade of Stars were iconic celebrities such as Marian Rivera, Dingdong Dantes, Sharon Cuneta, Piolo Pascual, Vilma Santos, Eugene Domingo, and Alden Richards among many others who campaigned for their films.

Valenzuela City served as the end-point of the parade, following a closing program and film showing at the Valenzuela City People’s Park and Amphitheater. Tons of Valenzuelanos gathered to witness the movie entries of MMFF 2023. The stage was also given to the cast and production staff to promote their films.

As the city’s 400th founding anniversary revolved around the theme of “History and Progress”, promoting and celebrating the Philippine culture and cinema remains one of Valenzuela City’s profound advocacy.

The Metro Manila Film Festival will run from December 25, 2023, to January 7, 2024.
