After the distribution of VCGuroAko laptops last July 22, a web-based software is now set in motion for its initial phase of rollout. The educators’ training on how to administer the portal’s school management system took place at Events Hall ALERT Multi-purpose Building, December 1.

Valenzuela City’s unceasing and extensive efforts to improve education while prioritizing the welfare and convenience of educators and students led to the development of VCGuroAko APP content. In partnership with DepEd Division of City Schools Valenzuela and the Valenzuela City home-grown third-party software development company, AppCase, Inc. Valenzuela, data transfer such as grades encoding, complying to reports and calendars, and generating lesson plans are now made easy and can be done without interrupting the classes, and the teachers allotting extra time that they would otherwise spend with their families.

The VCGuroAko project caters to all teachers in Valenzuela City’s Elementary, Junior and Senior Highschools — a total of 70 schools. During the Phase 1 Rollout of training, there are only selected teachers that are present to learn the portal’s features. Two focal persons from each school is enough to undergo training, then the next dissemination level would be from teacher to teacher.

Mr. Noel E. Reyes, IT Head of DepEd Valenzuela, explained the training scheme,  “Mula rito tine-train ‘yung mga teachers na magiging trainers sa schools, pagbalik nila ie-execute nila ‘yung training at ibibigay ‘yung account sa mga co-teachers nila. Ta’s lahat sila ay mabibigyan ng account, hindi lang ‘yung trainers ang makaka-access niyan.” [Coming from the training, when the teacher trainers go back to their corresponding schools, they will execute what they have learned here to their co-teachers. Take note that all teachers will be given their portal account, not only the teacher trainers have the access to the portal.]

Mr. Reyes also assured that any technical issues that will be encountered from the Phase 1 Rollout will be aided by sufficient support, “Itong software, hindi lang siya matatapos ngayon, dine-develop pa siya para ma-meet ‘yung needs ng teachers... Of course hindi namin pababayaan ang ICT ng local at ICT ng DepEd.” Acting as head, he is working together with Mr. Randy Sison, Head of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Office Valenzuela. [This software is still a work in progress, it’s still being developed to meet the needs of teachers… Of course we will not let our local ICT and ICT of DepEd.]

Representatives from each school are expected to submit an accomplishment report once they have already disseminated to their co-teachers what they have acquired from the training. This is to verify the accessibility of the portal. 

Before long, the city-wide project is planned to be utilized not by teachers alone but also by students and guardians.

AppCase, Inc. is the same company that Valenzuela City works with in the deployment of VCVax and ValTrace.

Also present at the training were Hany Narida, Director of AppCase Inc. and Meliton P. Zurbano, DepEd Valenzuela Schools Division Superintendent.
