Some 804 Valenzuelano persons with disability  and pedicab drivers sign a contract as the latest beneficiaries of Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD), at Valenzuela City Amphitheater, November 11.

Through the office of the Congressman, First District Representative REX Gatchalian, and with the help of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), the REX Serbisyo Center able to deliver assistance for the recovery of the members of Valenzuela Persons with Disabilities Federation Incorporated (VPDFI) and members of Pedicab Operators and Drivers Association (PODA) as the latest grantees of TUPAD.

TUPAD aims to provide temporary employment or "emergency employment" to displaced workers, unemployed, and underemployed workers whose income has been greatly affected by the pandemic.

The beneficiaries of the DOLE’s program will spend at least ten days working through social community projects such as cleaning streets, schools, health centers, clogging canals, tree-planting, and contract tracing, among others.

Valenzuelano PWD and members of PODA underwent orientation and contract signing and eventually received their TUPAD ID. Their salary is equivalent to the minimum wage in the National Capital Region (NCR), or PhP 5,700 for a ten-day work. TUPAD recipients  are scheduled to work from November 12 to 21, from 8:00 am to 12: 00 nn.

DOLE worker in an orientation announced that the TUPAD recipients will receive their salary through money remittance Palawan Express after complying with DOLE’s requirements such as DTR o Daily Time Record, and photo documentation as proof of attendance.

Congressman REX Gatchalian in his message acknowledged the DOLE – CAMANAVA, “Ako po ay personal na nagpapasalamat sa mga kinatawan ng DOLE-CAMANAVA para sa kanilang tulong na maisagawa ang programang ito. Patuloy po tayong susuporta at magbibigay ng trabaho para sa bawat Valenzuelano.” (I am personally grateful to the representatives of DOLE-CAMANAVA for their help to implement this program. We will continue to support and provide jobs for every Valenzuelano.)

DOLE – CAMANAVA and Congressman REX, since he assumed his office, has reached about 4,000 Valenzuelano as TUPAD beneficiaries.
