With the theme Magaling na Paglilingkod, Kayamanan ng Lungsod, Valenzuela City Health Department recognized the hard work, efficiency and achievements of barangay health workers and institutions.

Held for the first time, City Health Officer Dr. Jaime Exconde said the awards “aim to give appreciation to our health workers for their dedication in giving the best service to our fellow Valenzuelanos.”

Barangay Paso de Blas Health Center was judged as the City’s Best Health Facility, along, with five runners-up from small and big Health Center categories.

The runners-up from big Health Centers that cover more than 10,000 of population are:

Barangay Bagbaguin Health Center,

Barangay Mapulang Lupa Health Center

Barangay Viente Reales Health Center

Barangay Dalandanan Health Center 

Barangay Balangkas Health Center

The runners-up from small health centers that cover less than 10,000 of population are:

Barangay Bignay Health Center

Barangay Isla Health Center

Barangay Mapulang Lupa Purok 4 Health Center

Barangay Pasolo Health Center

Barangay Tagalag Health Center

Barangays with special awards are:

Best in Garantisadong Pambata (GP) Inititative – Barangay Punturin Health Center.

Best in Healthy Lifestyle Initiative – Barangay Tugatog Health Center

Best in Tuberculosis Initiative – Barangay Marulas Mega Health Center

Best in Health Promotional Initiative – Barangay Dalandanan Health Center 

The Measles Rubella Supplemental Immunization Activity (MR SIA) awardees were also recognized during the event. The MR SIA stakeholders were recognized for the successful National Capital Region massive vaccination against measles rubella from April to May of this year.  The national awarding was held last December 3, 2011 at Manila Grand Opera Hotel.  

Ten (10) barangay health centers and three coordinators from Valenzuela City were given recognition for their efficient cooperation during the MR SIA vaccination.

Mr. SIA Awardees are:

Dr. Miriam Deato, Medical Coordinator for Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI)

Ms. Rolina Angeles, Nurse Coordinator for EPI

Ms. Maria Pia Dizon, Health Education and Promotion Officer for EPI

The ten (10) awarded barangays are:
