Applicants totaling to 279 trooped to the job fair conducted at the Disiplina Village in Barangay Ugong, July 14, in celebration of the 148th Birth Anniversary of Dr. Pio Valenzuela.
Jobs fairs such as these are being spearheaded by the city’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO) and matches the skills and qualifications of the applicants with the requirements of the employers.
Among the 1,225 total job vacancies offered, eight Valenzuelanos successfully positioned themselves for instant employment as hired on-the-spot applicants while some 298 are getting ready for their scheduled further interview. Most of the job seekers have submitted their resumes to different employers from 17 participating companies.
A one-stop-shop pre-employment services such as, PhilHealth, PagIBIG, National Housing Authority, Department of Labor and employment (DOLE), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) [formerly National Statistics Office (NSO)] were set-up within the area to hasten the processing of the documentary requirements of the job-seekers.
On July 5, the Valenzuela City PESO garnered an overall rating of 97% from the DOLE for being an effective avenue in providing holistic approach in employment programs and services, besting other 16 cities and one municipality in the National Capital Region (NCR). It will be NCR’s entry for the Highly Urbanized City Category of the National Search for 2016 Best PESO.
Every year, at least nine Mega Job Fairs are being conducted in the city, while at least one barangay or mini job fair monthly.
