The City Government of Valenzuela through the Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO), investigates the warehouse in Barangay Bignay over a foreign flag display and reveals several violations of the company. Mayor WES, through the recommending approval of the BPLO, orders the immediate closure of the establishment, June 6.

During their inspection and investigation, BPLO uncovered that STR Power Equipment Corporation – one of three companies renting the property in the warehouse compound – is operating without the necessary Mayor’s/Business Permit required to function as a warehouse. As a result of these violations, an immediate closure order was issued to STR Power Equipment Corporation, through Executive Order 2024-073, Series of 2024.

This significant discovery during the inspection of BPLO arose from the investigation into the display of a foreign flag in the vicinity, which is a violation of Section 34 (h) of Republic Act No. 8491, also known as the Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines. BPLO is still in the process of confirming which of the companies in the warehouse compound was responsible for raising the foreign flag.

Further investigation revealed the presence of foreign national employees in the two other companies operating in the area. BPLO is currently verifying whether these employees possess the necessary working visas.

The City Government of Valenzuela emphasizes its commitment to uphold Filipino patriotism and adherence to national laws, and reminds all businesses and residents regardingthe prohibition on displaying foreign flags in public spaces, except within embassies, diplomatic establishments, and offices of international organizations, as mandated by Republic Act No. 8491.

As it coincides with the celebration of National Flag Day, Valenzuela City reaffirms its dedication to maintain the prominence and respect of the Philippine National Flag, as well as its commitment to ensure that all actions within our jurisdiction reflect the values of national solidarity and respect for our country's symbols.
