With the theme “New Normal na Nutrisyon, Sabay-sabay Gawan ng Solusyon”, the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) leads the City’s effort in celebrating the 48th National Nutrition Month, at Valenzuela City People’s Park Amphitheater, July 22.

The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) campaigns their first inter-unit nutrition awareness month celebration, believing that well-being and healthy employee can tender optimum service for the Valenzuelanos.

Units under the CSWDO that were present in the activity were personnel from Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) or Day Care, Chikiting Food Patrol, Valenzuela City’s shelters Bahay Pag-Asa, Bahay Kalinga, and Bahay Kanlungan.

CSWDO Assistant Head, Ms. Precy Vallarta emphasized the importance of nutritious food particularly in time of pandemic, “Kinikilala natin ang kahalagahan ng nutrisyon, sa panahon ng pandemya…Kailangan ng panlaban ng ating katawan. Saan manggagaling iyan? Sa ating kinakain. Lahat tayo ay naniniwala na ang pagkain ang siyang buhay, maliban sa tubig.” (We recognize the importance of nutrition, during the pandemic...Our body needs defense. Where does that come from? In what we eat. We all believe that food is life, except for water.)

Moreover, the event highlighted each unit’s pride and wellness to goodness food that were vended to other participants. The objective is to promote livelihood sustainability and the proceeds will be delivered to their respective shelters’ beneficiaries. The second is to encourage beneficial cooking that was not only limited to being done by skilled employees but also to bring out the innate talents of shelters’ clients. Lastly, to recognize the best and healthy practices showcasing respective shelters’ products with “Tatak CSWDO ‘Yan!”.

Staff of both Bahay Kanlungan and Bahay Kalinga prepared pastries, breads, cookies, and rags for sale to raise funds for the benefit of the beneficiaries under their care.

There were also external entities from the private sector that were present at the event. These organizations actively participated in this nutrition awareness celebration by giving wellness food, nutrition counselling, consultation, and other services. These are Abbott Laboratories, Ang – Hortaleza Foundation Inc, Mercury Drug Corporation, RK Kitchen, Yakult Philippines, Anytime Fitness, 1314 Commissary, Philippine Moringa and More Corp., and Siomai King.

The event kicked off with a zumba led by Anytime Fitness.
