Valenzuela City proudly receives honors at the "2024 Urban Governance Exemplar Awards: Upholding Excellence in Local Governance Towards an Inclusive, Resilient, and Safe NCR" at the Novotel Manila on October 28, 2024.

This prestigious recognition highlights the city’s dedication to sustainable governance and outstanding performance across various Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) functionality audits and programs, including:

Audit-Based Awards:
- Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ADAC) Performance Audit;
- Peace and Order Council (POC) Performance Audit;
- Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC) Functionality Audit;
- Local Committee on Anti-Trafficking Violence Against Women and their Children (LCAT-VAWC) Functionality Audit; and
- Manila Bay Clean-up, Rehabilitation, and Preservation (MBCRP) Program LGU Compliance Assessment.

Top Performing and Special Awards:
- ADAC Performance Audit (Top Performing LGU); and
- MBCRP Program (ISF Cluster; Top Performing LGU).

The City Government of Valenzuela, under the leadership of Mayor WES Gatchalian, continues its track of excellence by winning multiple awards at the 2024 Urban Governance Exemplar Awards. Hosted by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) at Novotel Manila, Quezon City, on October 28, 2024, this year’s ceremony celebrated the theme "Upholding Excellence in Local Governance Towards an Inclusive, Resilient, and Safe NCR."

Valenzuela City’s continued commitment to governance and public service was demonstrated through its impressive achievements in various categories:

Highly Functional Rating - 2024 Local Committee on Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women and their Children (LCAT-VAWC)

Reflecting a heightened focus on combating trafficking and protecting vulnerable groups, the LCAT-VAWC of Valenzuela received a Highly Functional Rating for its exceptional performance.

High Performing Rating - 2024 Peace and Order Council Performance Audit

With an outstanding High Performing Rating, Valenzuela’s Peace and Order Council underscored the city’s dedication to maintaining public safety and security.

Top Performing Rating - 2024 Anti-Drug Abuse Council Performance Audit for the Highly Urbanized City Category

Recognized as a top performer, the Anti-Drug Abuse Council exemplified Valenzuela’s proactive measures in fighting drug abuse.

Ideal Functional Rating - 2024 Local Council for the Protection of Children Functionality Audit

Scoring an Ideal Functional Rating, the Local Council for the Protection of Children showcased the city’s unwavering dedication to child welfare and protection.

Top Performance Rating - ISF Cluster of the 2024 Manila Bay Clean-up, Rehabilitation, and Preservation Program (MBCRPP)

Valenzuela City was acknowledged with a Top Performance Rating for its efforts under the Informal Settler Families (ISF) Cluster in the Manila Bay Clean-up, Rehabilitation, and Preservation Program.

Highly Compliant Rating - 2024 Manila Bay Clean-up, Rehabilitation, and Preservation Program (MBCRPP)

Demonstrating full compliance, the city received a Highly Compliant Rating for its continued dedication to the preservation and rehabilitation of Manila Bay.

Joining Mayor WES in receiving the awards were VADAC Action Officer Councilor Atty. Bimbo Dela Cruz, Chief on Social Welfare Operations Ms. Dorothy Evangelista, City Environment and Natural Resources Office OIC Ms. Rachel Torres, Housing and Resettlement Office Head Ms. Elenita Reyes, Waste Management Division Head Ms. Marietta Antonio, and DILG-Valenzuela Director Ms. Sudi Valencia.

The Urban Governance Exemplar Awards annually recognize local government units for their outstanding performance across various categories, a testament to the high standards set by DILG.
