This year’s first Mega Job Fair kicked off by the City Government of Valenzuela and Public Employment Service Office (PESO) in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment – NCR (DOLE) and Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) held at Valenzuela City People’s Park Amphitheater, February 24.

Out of 824 applicants, 661 were classified as nearly hired or “hots”. This surpasses past Valenzuela City Job Fairs’ records, making this year’s Mega Job Fair success rate at 80.22%

An estimate of 5,000 job vacancies from 53 employers were all waiting for Valenzuelano Job Seekers. There are 44 local and 9 overseas employers present at an almost day-long event. 

The job fair is inclusive to all, including Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), college graduates, undergraduates, and high school graduates. There are 13 PWDs assisted, out of this, 4 were hired on-the-spot.

DOLE Director Rowie Grande gave support to all registered applicants, reminding them to seize the day and make the most out of every job opportunities they can seek. “…Confidently, pag ininterview tayo, sumagot ng maayos. At kung sa unang application, hindi kayo matanggap, wag kayong panghinaan ng loob… Sana marami tayong ma-hire on-the-spot ngayong araw.” [When you are being interviewed, be confident and answer properly. And if you failed your first application, don’t lose hope… I hope many applicants will be hired on-the-spot today.]”

Director Grande also acknowledged the partner employers and hoped that they will continue the partnership in not just providing jobs but making it more accessible to the people. “… They are bringing the jobs closer. Hindi po ba napakaganda, napaka-noble ng kanilang ginagawa? Para po hindi na kayo mahirapan mag-apply.” […They are bringing the jobs closer. Isn’t their function so nice and noble? To make job applications easier for you.]

One-Stop-Shop pre-employment services are also on tap during the job fair, composed of different organizations such as the Public Employment Service Office (PESO), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), PAG-IBIG FUND, Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PHILHEALTH), Humanities and Inclusion (HI), and Leonard Cheshire Disability Philippines Foundation Inc. (LCDPF).

City Mayor WES Gatchalian was present to observe the event and send his good luck to Valenzuelano applicants.
