As part of the city government's commitment to promote sports and wellness, and foster young athletes' abilities, the Pamilyang Valenzuelano Summer Sports Camp officially kicks off at The WES Arena , June 14, 2024.

Currently in its second year, the Pamilyang Valenzuelano Summer Sports Camp was institutionalized to further promote sportsmanship and camaraderie to Valenzuelano youth ages seven (7) to fifteen (15) years old. Moreover, the said program also aims to keep the youth away from using prohibited drugs and entice them to play sports instead.

About 1,700 Valenzuelano youth from the 33 barangays have registered and participated in the sports program of their choice such as lawn tennis, basketball, taekwondo, judo, karate, chess, table tennis, arnis, obstacle sports, badminton, pickleball, sepak takraw, volleyball, futsal, darts, and boxing. Each participant receives a free sports camp t-shirt. 

Most of the sports programs are scheduled in the WES Arena for its world-class facilities. It houses a two-court basketball floor, dugouts, volleyball court, badminton court, boxing ring, chess area, billiards and darts hall, among others. The lawn tennis will take place in the Bahayang Pag-asa Tennis Court in Barangay Maysan, while the Valenzuela City Sports Park in Barangay Wawang Pulo will serve its purpose for the obstacle sports. 

The City Government of Valenzuela, led by Mayor WES Gatchalian, through the Sports Development Office, ensures to roll out more programs for the Pamilyang Valenzuelano to foster camaraderie and sportsmanship as well as to hone their skills in the field of sports. One of the most anticipated of such programs is the Valenzuela Olympics. 

Meanwhile, the Pamilyang Valenzuelano Summer Sports Camp 2024 will run until June 22, 2024. The participants who will complete the nine-day sports camp shall be given a certificate of participation as recognition for their fervent support and engagement in the annual sports event.
