The Job Generation Office (JGO) of the City Government of Valenzuela continues its information drive to entice Valenzuelanos to switch to the digital job application process through the country’s only LGU-run job-matching portal, the Valenzuela Trabaho, by offering free weekly personality development seminars. 

Held every Saturday, attendees of this seminar are given certificates of participation, which may be included on one’s resume or curriculum vitae as an additional credential. 

According to JGO frontline personnel, Ms. Sheena Rose Dulatas, “convenience” is among the benefits that a job seeker may obtain from using the Valenzuela Trabaho platform. She said, “Kahit nasa bahay lang, pwede ka nang mag-apply ng trabaho online. Hindi mo na kailangan pang mamasahe” (Even at home, you may apply for a job online. No need to spend for travel fare). 

She added that job hunting through JGO is a more cost effective option unlike the traditional way of sending printed applications. 

“Ang reklamo ng ibang aplikante sa de-papel na aplikasyon, gumagastos pa sila sa pagpapa- photocopy ng mga pre-employment requirements kahit wala namang kasiguraduhan na matatanggap sila sa trabaho. Dito, hihingan lang sila ng requirements kapag tanggap na sila ng kumpanyang papasukan nila” (One common complaint by job seekers on paper applications is that applicants have to shell out money in photocopying their pre-employment requirements, even without the assurance that they will get a job. Here, they only need to comply to the requirements once they are certain that they are hired). 

Since JGO’s establishment on February 3, 2014, the Valenzuela Trabaho online platform has activated 10,695 memberships for job seekers and pooled 354 accounts for job providers.
