With the extension of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) in effect until April 30, the Valenzuela City Council greenlights the rescheduling of the deadline for payments of the Business Tax, Real Property Tax and Transfer Tax during the 34th Regular Session of Valenzuela City’s 8th City Council last April 13, 2020.

This is the City’s effort to provide temporary relief to communities, businesses, and individuals affected by the Luzon-wide lockdown. With the ongoing ECQ, the government only allows businesses producing essential goods and delivering essential services to operate, thus leaving a good number of companies and organizations with little or no income at all.

The extension endeavors to give the business and real property owners ample time to come up with the payments for the taxes, permits, and licenses of their businesses and properties.

Ordinance No. 688, Series of 2020, stretches the deadline of the payment  of  the  renewal of  business  taxes, as well as permits,  licenses,  and/or other  fees  and charges  for  the  second  (2nd)  quarter of the year to  twenty (20) more days  after  the  lifting  and/or  modification  of  the  ECQ pursuant to Proclamation  No.  929, Series of 2020 (Declaring A State of Calamity Throughout the Philippines Due to Coronavirus Disease 2019).

While Ordinance No. 689, Series of 2020 likewise declares the extension of the deadline for  the  payment of  real  property tax  for  the  first  quarter of  2020  and transfer  tax  due during the  ECQ period. This ordinance grants an additional thirty (30) days from the date of the lifting of the ECQ is given to taxpayers to settle their obligations.

This is the second deadline extension for the payment of real property and transfer taxes as the City Council had already passed similar ordinances last March 23, 2020. Ordinance No. 677 Series of 2020 and Ordinance No. 678 Series of 2020 mandates the deferment of payment deadline of Real Property Tax and Transfer Tax, respectively, until April 30, 2020 without any interest or penalty.

The measures, co-authored and approved by the 8th City Council, were also certified as urgent by Valenzuela City Mayor REX Gatchalian.

Constituents are also encouraged to pay through the Valenzuela City Online Services or “Paspas Permit” at
