To support the city’s mission to create a liveable city, the Valenzuela City Development Council (CDC), led by Mayor WES Gatchalian, convened today, October 8, 2024 at AVR, Valenzuela City Hall to discuss the status and progress of on-going projects and outline the future programs for the continues socio-economic development of the city.

Mayor WES, joined by City Engineering Office head, Engr. Reynaldo Sunga, provided an update on the status of the city’s current initiatives and laid a detailed plan for future infrastructure projects. The meeting served as an avenue to ensure that the city’s direction remains sustainable particularly in terms of physical infrastructures and its contribution to socio-economic growth. 

Among the key highlights was the allocation of the 2025 City Development Fund, sourced from 20% of the National Tax Allocation as mandated by Republic Act 7160. Amounting to PhP 474,564,630.00, the fund will be utilized for various programs, including the second phase of the Valenzuela Children’s Park in Barangay Malinta budgeted at PhP 13,300,000.00, and the installation of streetlights in different roads in the city, with a total cost of PhP 5,064,630.00. These projects, along with others, are part of the city’s on-going efforts to enhance public spaces and ensure safety and convenience for every Valenzuelano. 

Mayor WES highlighted the importance of these projects in driving the city’s growth and improving the quality of life for the residents. From enhancing public spaces to improving infrastructures, these initiatives aim to address both the current needs and future challenges, ensuring that Valenzuela City remains a progressive and a sustainable city. 

Attendees of the meeting included key city officials such as City Administrator, Atty. Jaime De Veyra, City Chief of Staff, Arch Benjie Gamaro, City Planning and Development Office head, Ms. Josefina Acurantes, DILG-Valenzuela Director, Ms. Sudi Valencia, the 33 Punong Barangays with Liga ng mga Barangay President, Councilor Mario San Andres, and representatives from different NGOs in the city.

The meeting underscored the city’s on-going commitment to sustainable development , reinforcing the city government’s mission to create a liveable and thriving community for every Pamilyang Valenzuelano.
