In light of the Valenzuela City Government's constant efforts to promote safe driving, Mayor WES Gatchalian and Councilor Sel Sabino-Sy collaborated with the Ford Motors Company and conducted the training dubbed “Ford Driving Skills For Life,”  held at Club House, Barangay Canumay West, February 17.

Nearly 300 people participated in the said training led by professionals from Ford Motors. The participants came from the public and private sectors including staff from the Valenzuela City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (VCDRRMO), Valenzuela City Police Station (VCPS), Barangay Workers, and several employees from the City Hall. Moreover, students from Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU), Valenzuela City Technological College (ValTech), and Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Valenzuela (PLV) also participated and test-drove several car units brought by Ford.

Before the actual driving test, participants attended a 1-day seminar as part of their training. Automotive experts from the Ford Company discussed the frequent encounters on the road. They also taught the meaning of road signs and gave safety guidelines they can apply when driving. Also, videos of the latest road incidents were shown during the training, tackling a fundamental idea of road safety that involves self-control whenever they find themselves in such circumstances.

Mayor WES, who personally graced the event, commended the participants, especially the students, as it was their first time joining the driving training since the launch last year. [You know, it's not every day that we have a program like this, so the students who participated today are very lucky to be part of our training today. This is supported by Ford Philippines, and we are grateful for their help for our government.]

The city government aims to formulate more road safety and peace and order programs, and this reflects the continuous efforts of the city to uplift the morale and improve the quality of life of every Pamilyang Valenzuelano.
