The City Government of Valenzuela and the Division of City Schools-Valenzuela paid tribute to 17 public school teachers for their contribution in uplifting the quality of education in the city which led to the improved performance of students in the National Achievement Test (NAT), particularly the elementary students who placed number one in the National Capital Region (NCR) for the two consecutive school years of 2009-2010 and 2010-2011.

“We cannot achieve the improvement and development of the quality education in our city without the sacrifices of our dear teachers,” said City Mayor Sherwin T. Gatchalian during the awarding ceremonies held last week at the Valenzuela City Auditorium.

Awardees from Elementary Level are:

1. Ms. Enriqueta Fontelo of Caruhatan East Elementary School (English)

2. Mr. Romel Gatila of Parada Elementary School (Math)

3. Ms.Ana Algene Caingal of A. Fernando Elementary School (Science)

4. Ms. Perpetua Aquino of Pio Valenzuela Elementary School (Filipino)

5. Ms. Josefina Soriano of Punturin Elementary School (Araling Panlipunan)

6. Ms. Renilda Capistrano of Constantino Elementary School (EPP)

7. Mr. Nathaniel Del Mundo of Pio Valenzuela ES (MAPEH)

8. Ms. Rizza Escobido of Serrano Elementary School (SPED)

9. Ms. Perlita N. Niere of Malinta Elementary School (Kindergarten).

Awardees from Secondary Level are:

10. Ms. Nova Gonzales of Sitero Francisco National High School (English)

11. Ms. Marilyn Soriano of Valenzuela City Science National High School (Math)

12. Ms. Eleonor Santos of Dalandanan National High School (Science)

13. Ms. Grace Yumul of Valenzuela National High School (Filipino)

14. Ms. Ma. Patricia De Vera of Valenzuela City Science High School (Araling Panlipunan)

15. Ms. Evelyn  Santos of Valenzuela National High School (EPP)

16. Mr. Joseph Tanagan of Malintah National High School (MAPEH)

17. MS. Maribel Pascual of Valenzuela National High School (SPED)

The awardees received a plaque and cash gift from the City Government of Valenzuela.  

Five (5) education retirees were also acknowledged during the ceremony.  They are:
