Coinciding with the birthday celebration of City Mayor Sherwin T. Gatchalian, some 247 Valenzuelanos found new jobs at the recent two-day Araw Ko, Alay Ko Birthday Mega Jobs Fair held at the Valenzuela City Astrodome in Brgy. Dalandanan last Monday and Tuesday.

The City’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Manager Ms. Luningning Martin reported that the two-day affair drew least 3,666 registered applicants. They, she said, just had to choose from 143 participating companies who offered both local and overseas jobs.

The city official attributed this huge number of turnout to the City Government’s staging of mega jobs fair regularly.  “People have become familiar with our mega jobs fairs that they look forward to our next event.”

She further said, “These people are either seeking employment or wanting a better job than the one they already have.”

The Valenzuela City PESO has been recognized by DOLE as the best unit in NCR after posting in 2009 a hiring rate of 77.6%.  The office regularly organizes jobs fairs for the constituency in partnership with local and national employers.
