The Valenzuela City Police Station (VCPS) assures residents a peaceful All Souls’ Day and All Saints’ Day with the deployment of more than 1,000 police personnel.
In an October 30 memorandum, VCPS Acting Chief of Police, Senior Superintendent Rhoderick Armamento said his office is deploying 1,053 personnel from October 31 to November 2 for the “Oplan Kaluluwa 2013,” the VCPS’ security plan for the holidays this weekend.
Mayor REX Gatchalian stressed the importance of police visibility during this season since traditionally, this is the time of the year when families gather to offer their prayers. “We want to make sure that Valenzuelanos will be able to observe the solemnity of remembering their departed loved ones this All Souls’ Day,” he said.
The bulk of the police force comprises the 189 personnel who have been assigned in the assistance desks that have been installed in each of the nine cemeteries in the city.
The VCPS has also deployed an 11-officer Special Response Unit, a four-officer Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit, and a six-officer Tactical Motorcycle Riders Unit.
The Valenzuela City police force is also supported by the 180 force multipliers, or volunteers and army reserves. Twenty force multipliers have been assigned in each cemetery.
Meanwhile, the VCPS also reported there was no election-related violence in the recently concluded barangay elections.
