He could sing.  He could dance. He is here to speak of upholding peace and order in the communities.  He is the policeman who shall become Valenzuela City Police Stations’epitome of a modern honest and trustworthy law enforcer. He is SPO1 Valenzuela.

SPO1 Valenzuela is not your usual policeman.  He is a mascot which shall embody the exact image of what a model policeman should be.  The public first set eyes on what is projected to become the symbol of the local PNP’s improved community relations during the PNP Patrol Plan 2030 Forum today, February 9, at the Valenzuela City External Services Office grounds. 

The mascot shall deliver compelling messages of peace to the people through singing and dancing in schools, barangays and malls in the entire city.  “We would like to show our constituents that we have a transformed.  SPO1 Valenzuela reflects the brand-new image of a modern policeman,” newly-installed Valenzuela City Police Chief, Senior Superintendent Rhoderick Armamento said in an interview. 

City Mayor WIN Gatchalian welcomed the mascot he dubbed as “a sign of continuing efforts of both of the local government and the local police force to provide quality service to Valenzuelanos.  SPO1 Valenzuela shall also serve as an inspiration in maintaining discipline among the line of our local policemen, as well as, the good image of the city government personnel.”

Center for Police Strategy Management (CPSM) Director, P/SSupt. Ferdinando G. Sevilla who helped welcomed the mascot shared on his speech that, “PNP Patrol Plan was given strategic focus by Chief Police Director General Alan La Madrid Purisima by enhancing the competence of each and every police officer, redefining and reforming organization, instilling discipline, realizing excellence and instituting professionalism at all levels of the organization. These are encapsulated under “CODE-P: 2013 and Beyond,” which is PNP’s blueprint towards the realization of the PNP P.A.T.R.O.L. Plan 2030.” 

The introduction of SPO1 Valenzuela is a very effective strategy to maintain the status of VCPS as among the model police stations in the country.  “Valenzuela Police Station has the record of the lowest number of Administrative Cases in the NCRPO. This means that VCPS is one of those which has well-bred policemen,” Sevilla added.

P/Supt Armamento, on the other hand, thanked Mayor WIN for his untiring support to the Valenzuela City Police Station.  He revealed VCPS’ scheme to further reduce crimes in the city, especially theft and robbery, by everyday roving at malls, banks, pawnshops, schools and other public places.  “We are very lucky to have a supportive chief executive who helps us finance everything we need: from our brand patrol cars to decent headquarters and PCPs and firearms.   Everything that we need is well-supported by the local government,” he said. 

SPO1 Valenzuela, together with the local policemen’s children, performed a touching song and dance interpretation number entitled “Ang Tatay Kong Pulis Ay Bayani Sa Puso Ko,” which is just one of the repertoire prepared by the mascot.
