In fulfillment of the city’s annual gift-giving tradition, Valenzuela City launched Pasko sa Hulyo Para Kay Lolo at Lola 2022 on July 23. A total of 61,211 Valenzuelano Senior Citizens are scheduled to receive special gift packs from the city government until July 31, 2022.

In its first day, a total of 11,309 senior citizens from Barangays Wawang Pulo, Balangkas, Poblacion, Pariancillo Villa, Palasan, Isla, Bisig, Mabolo, Tagalag, Arkong Bato, Coloong, Dalandanan, Rincon and Malinta received 2 packs of 5kg. rice as their early Christmas gifts from the city government.

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to plague the city, the local government continues to pursue its mission in giving the local elderlies a happy and healthy lifestyle.

The Pasko sa Hulyo program follows a door-to-door delivery system in distributing the vouchers for each senior citizen household, which started as early as June. The voucher contains important details regarding the distribution of the gift packs such as the date, time and redemption site. Claimants are advised to follow the schedule on their vouchers to ensure observation of social distancing and other COVID-19 protocols. If the beneficiaries are to assign a representative on behalf of them, the representative must show a valid ID, the Pasko sa Hulyo voucher, OSCA-issued ID of the senior citizen, and an authorization letter signed by the senior citizen.

In his message, Mayor WES reminded the senior citizens of the continuous threat of the COVID-19 infection in the community. As an encouragement, he announced an incentive program for senior citizens who will get the booster shots. According to him, starting August, senior citizens who will get the first booster dose will get a three hundred pesos (Php300) South Supermarket gift certificate while those who will get the second booster dose will get an additional five hundred pesos (Php500) Mercury Drug gift certificate. With the said incentive program, Mayor WES hopes to achieve the goal of 90% vaccination rate for senior citizens by the end of October this year. He also said that five more additional satellite vaccination sites will be opened within the city on August 1 to ease the vaccination process for senior citizens.

Only senior citizens residing in Valenzuela City and are registered with the Office for Senior Citizen’s Affair (OSCA) before May 13, 2022 are qualified to receive the gift packs.
