Continuing the yearly gift-giving program for the Pamilyang Valenzuelano senior citizens, the City of Valenzuela kickstarted this year’s “Pasko sa Hulyo Para Kay Lolo at Lola” gift distribution to the elderly this day, July 21. This five (5)-day event anticipates a total of 65,460 senior citizens to receive said gift packs until July 29, 2023.

Christmas came early in mid-July for the Pamilyang Valenzuelano senior citizens with the launch of “Pasko sa Hulyo Para Kay Lolo at Lola 2023”. On its first day, a total of 11,854 senior citizens from 16 barangays received their early Christmas gift packs, particularly the barangays of Wawang Pulo, Balangkas, Poblacion, Pulo, Pariancillo Villa, Palasan, Isla, Bisig, Mabolo, Tagalog, Arkong Bato, Coloong, Pasolo, Rincon, and Malinta. Each recipient received 2 sacks of rice, weighing 5 kilograms each.

Now that it has approached its 6th year, Pasko sa Hulyo continues its commitment to providing our senior citizens with additional assistance to their basic necessities such as food, pursuing their overall goal of improving their quality of life.

Weeks prior to the launch, the Pasko sa Hulyo program engaged in a door-to-door delivery system for the distribution of vouchers to every household with eligible senior citizens. Stated in each voucher were details such as the schedule and the designated sites for redeeming the gift packs. The qualified beneficiaries of the program were senior citizens registered with the Office of the Senior Citizen Affairs (OSCA) on or before May 15, 2023, and residents in Valenzuela City.

Mayor WES Gatchalian, alongside city officials, warmly welcomed the senior citizens and led the distribution of gift packs. In his remarks, he expressed how the city faithfully goes above and beyond to its goal of prioritizing the welfare of the Pamilyang Valenzuelano senior citizens. He also took pride in the quality of the rice being given, which was straight from the farmers of Isabela. “Nakipag-partner po tayo sa kooperatiba ng mga magsasaka ng Isabela. Kaya po hindi lamang po ito nakakatulong para sa ating pamilya; nakakatulong rin tayo sa libu-libong magsasaka doon sa Isabela.” (We forged partnership with the cooperative of farmers in Isabela. That’s why [these grains of rice] not only help our families, but also to thousands of farmers in Isabela.)

Also leading the distribution of gift packs were Vice Mayor Lorie Natividad-Borja, Councilors Ghogo Deato-Lee, Marlon Alejandrino, Ramon Encarnacion, Ricarr Enriquez, Atty. Bimbo Dela Cruz, SK Federation President Councilor Goyong Serrano, and Liga ng mga Barangay President  Councilor Jonjon Bartolome.
