As face-to-face classes is nearly approaching, the Early Childhood Care Development (ECCD) Council and the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) through the support of United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), held a conference with different Child Development Teachers from every barangay in Valenzuela City to orient them for the safe reopening of the Early Childhood Education (ECE), August 26.
In preparation of the potential start of the face-to-face classes of the students ages from 3 to 6 years old, UNICEF helped the Valenzuela City in addressing their present struggles in children’s development and learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic. UNICEF provided technical support for the ECCD Council and help them prepare for a safer reopening of the Child Development Centers (CDCs).
The Child Development Teachers conducted brainstorming session and helped each other to produce a solid contingency plan gearing up for the said reopening of classes. They shared several suggestions, ideas and solutions to provide a safe environment for the children amidst the health crisis we are facing today.
Moreover, also part of the preparation of the educational facilities, the ECCD Council will tour on every Child Development Centers a week before the actual start of classes, to conduct their brigada eskwela which they call “Bayanihang Bulilit”. They will sanitize the classrooms and utilities to ensure the safety of the students as well as fix some of the amenities that are needed to be fixed.
The students are set to attend physical classes at least once a week. They are limited to just one hour per day because their discussions will mostly be through online medium. However, the ECCD Council and CSWDO are yet to decide whether they will allow the children to go face-to-face set-up since we are still in the middle of pandemic. Besides, the children are also unvaccinated because their age is not yet qualified for the advised age bracket for vaccination.
The Early Childhood Education will officially open on September 12, 2022.
