In line with the national government’s aim of regulating the use of firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices in the country, the City Government of Valenzuela implements local Executive Order No. 279, Series of 2017.

In June 2017, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte issued the Executive Order No. 28, Series of 2017, which provides for the regulation and control of the use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices.  It states that fireworks display may only be held at areas designated by local government units (LGUs).

EO No. 279 specifies Polo Park in Barangay Poblacion and CJ Santos Street in Barangay Malinta as the only areas in Valenzuela City where the residents can utilize firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices. This is contrary to what was previously circulating in the news where the city hall grounds and the Valenzuela People’s Park were mentioned as designated community fireworks zones in the city, together with six others.

It can be noted that the Valenzuela City Council passed City Ordinance No. 333 back in the year 2016, prohibiting and controlling the production, distribution and possession of firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices to assure public safety.

Task Force Disiplina, in coordination with the Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO) and respective barangay officials, is tasked to implement the provisions of the abovementioned executive order, together with the implementing rules and regulations (IRR) of the City Ordinance No. 333, Series of 2017 or the Executive Order No. 262, Series of 2017.
