Real property owners in Valenzuela who have unpaid dues for residential real property tax are enjoying an amnesty this year.

From January 1 to June 30, as set by the Ordinance No. 168, Series of 2014, the city government is suspending interests for delinquent residential real property owners and is collecting only principal amounts incurred up to 2014.

The amnesty, however, does not cover real properties: 1. which have been sold at a public auction; 2. with pending court cases; 3. under compromise agreement with a right to resell to previous owner; and 3. included in a public auction but is being used by the city government.

Payment may be done in full or in installment. If after the six-month period the payment remains incomplete, the actual amount due and its interest will be required of the owner.

Meanwhile, the city assessor is also putting off its electronic tax mapping system, which does away with sending inspectors to the site itself and instead uses images from satellites viewed from computers to assess real properties and find undeclared ones. This is to allow voluntary declaration of real properties and machineries and correction of inaccurate declarations.

Based on Ordinances No. 166 and 167, Series of 2014, only the principal amounts would be collected from owners who would voluntarily declare properties and machineries and correct erroneous declarations – actual features inconsistent with the declared – from January to June 2015.

For more information, owners may contact the City Assessor’s Office at 352-1000 local 1367
