The City Government of Valenzuela through its partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment - National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR), launch the BikeCINATION Project and provision of e-Loading livelihood assistance to 56 beneficiaries last October 22 at the Museo Valenzuela, Barangay Marulas.

With the help of the City’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Manager Josephine P. Osea, Councilor Chiqui Marie N. Carreon, and Councilor Ramon L. Encarnacion, 56 beneficiaries underwent the social preparation training to ensure the sustainability of their livelihood through the project.

The beneficiaries belong to displaced workers affected by the health and economic crisis due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the out-of-school youth, and persons with disabilities (PWDs). The beneficiaries were also fully vaccinated from July 1, 2021, to October 15, 2021.

They received free bikes that came with an insulation bag, protective helmet, reflective vest, bike rack, water bottle, a smartphone, and an electronic load wallet with PhP 5,000 worth of load to support their food delivery start-ups.

Valenzuela City Mayor REX Gatchalian graced the awarding ceremony together with Atty. Marion Sevilla, DOLE-NCR Assistant Regional Director, DOLE CAMANAVA Field Office Director Rowella Grande, DOLE-CAMANAVA Senior Labor Officer Mr. Ronald del Rosario, and Livelihood Coordinator Mr. Carlo Gatchalian.

Ms. Carole Malenab, Public Affairs Manager of GRAB Philippines, encouraged the beneficiaries to apply as GRAB freelancers around the City using their brand new bicycles as an additional source of livelihood.

More so, the bicycle units awarded can be used as a tool for capacity-building specifically in food or non-food delivery ventures of small and medium-sized enterprises.

DOLE BikeCINATION is a special project under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program which aims to cushion the impact of the pandemic by incentivizing informal sector workers in the A4 category who have completed two (2) doses of COVID-19 vaccines. The project also targets to encourage informal sector workers to get vaccinated to help in the country's fight against this pandemic.

The City Government of Valenzuela, through its PESO, has been very active in helping Valenzuelanos through job matching and finding employment opportunities. The Office is also in close coordination with DOLE in coming up with employment programs to mitigate the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the livelihood and employment of displaced workers.

Need help in finding a job? Feel free to contact Valenzuela City’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO) at 8352-1000 local 1710 for inquiries.
