Valenzuela City bagged 9 awards in the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-NCR’s Urban Governance Exemplary Awards 2022, here is the list of awards received:

Valenzuela City’s Barangay Mapulang Lupa bags Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards, Highly Urbanized City Category third place trophy. The barangay received PhP 20,000 as an incentive for exemplary performance. The Department of the Interior and Local Government – National Capital Region (DILG-NCR) bestowed the award during the 2022 Urban Governance Exemplary Awards held at The Manila Hotel, October 27.

The City Government of Valenzuela under the leadership of Mayor WES Gatchalian received a total of nine exemplary awards from the Department of Interior and Local Government – National Capital Region (DILG - NCR) during the Urban Governance Exemplar Awards held at The Manila Hotel last October 27, 2022.

The city was hailed with a highly functional rating in the Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit (CFLGA) for the year 2019 with a score of 90.82% and for year 2021 garnering 88.03%. Valenzuela was assessed through its performance in the delivery of social services and programs for the welfare of the youth and children.

With the City’s efficient performance in protecting the welfare of the Valenzuelano women and children, the Local Council on Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women and Their Children (LCAT – VAWC) obtained a highly functional rating.

In addition to the list of awards, the local government received a plaque of recognition for its complete and prompt submission of the city’s Gender and Development (GAD) Programs for the year 2023.

Valenzuela City also garnered the recognition of being highly compliant and top performers for Informal Settler Families Cluster, and Information, Education, Communications, And Institutional Arrangements Cluster, for the City’s active participation in the Manila Bay Clean Up, Rehabilitation, and Preservation Program (MBCRPP).

DILG – NCR also lauded Valenzuela City’s functionality performance rating for the year 2019 and 2021 for its Local Peace and Order Council, including the Anti-Drug Abuse Council’s Performance under the Highly Urbanized City Category.

On the other hand, Barangay Mapulang Lupa, with a score of 98.08%, ranked 3rd on the 2022 Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards for Highly Urbanized City Category for its outstanding efforts in maintaining peaceful and orderly relations of the people in their community.

Joining Mayor WES Gatchalian in receiving the awards during the ceremony were Councilors Ricar Enriquez, Bimbo Dela Cruz, DILG - Valenzuela Director, Mary Jane Nacario, CSWDO Head, Ms. Dorothy Evangelista, Housing and Resettlement Head, Ms. Elenita Reyes, and Barangay Mapulang Lupa Chairman, Kapitan Atoy Natividad.

The Urban Governance Exemplar Awards is an initiative of the DILG that aims to honor and recognize the performing local government units with regards to implementation of programs and their overall performance based on the recently conducted audits and assessments.
