With the continuous pursuit for a safe and healthy Pamilyang Valenzuelano, the City Government of Valenzuela headed by Mayor WES Gatchalian, in coordination with the City Health Office, released the official guidelines for the administration of COVID-19 second booster dose for the general public on April 20, 2023.

On April 13, 2023, the Department of Health (DOH) released Memorandum No. 2023-0146 tackling the general guidelines on the management and administration of COVID-19 vaccine second booster doses. According to the memorandum, qualified general population are now eligible for the second booster dose.

With this, the City Government of Valenzuela released the following 2nd booster eligibility qualifications, requirements, and FDA approved vaccine brands for the different population categories:     

I.  For General Population
A. Criteria for Eligibility
1. Must be 18 years old and above
2. With at least 6 months interval from the 1st booster

B. Requirements
1. Valid ID
2. Vaccination Card 
C. FDA Approved Vaccine Brands for 2nd Booster
1. Pfizer
2. Moderna
3.  Astrazeneca


II.  For Pregnant and Lactating Women
A. Criteria for Eligibility  
1. Must be 18 years old and above
2. Pregnant on 14 weeks age of gestation and beyond (beyond 1st trimester)
3. With at least 4 months interval from the 1st booster (if Moderna or Pfizer will be administered)
4. With at least 3 months interval from 1st booster (if Astrazeneca will be administered)
B.  Requirements
1.  Valid ID
2.  Vaccination Card
3.  Medical Clearance from OB-GYN (if complicated pregnancy or with comorbidity)
C. FDA Approved Vaccine Brands for 2nd Booster
1.  Pfizer
2.  Moderna
3.  Astrazeneca 

III.  For Immunocompromised Individuals
Note: Immunocompromised individuals are individuals diagnosed with:
·        Immunodeficiency state
·        HIV
·        Active cancer or malignancy
·        Transplant recipients
·        Undergoing steroid treatment
·        Patients with poor prognosis/bedridden patients
·        Other conditions of immunodeficiency as certified by physician

A. Criteria for Eligibility
1. Must be 18 years old and above
2. With at least 3 months interval from 1st booster
B. Requirements
1. Valid ID
2. Vaccination Card
3. Medical Clearance from attending physician 
C.  FDA Approved Vaccine Brands for 2nd Booster
1. Pfizer
2. Moderna
3. Astrazeneca
4. Sinovac
5.  Sinopharm
 
IV.  For Individuals with Comorbidities (non-immunocompromised)
A. Criteria for Eligibility
1. Must be 18 years old and above
2. With at least 4 months interval from the 1st booster (if Moderna or Pfizer will be administered)
3. With at least 3 months interval from the 1st booster (if Astrazeneca will be administered) 
B. Requirements
1. Valid ID
2. Vaccination Card
3. Medical clearance from attending physician 
C. FDA Approved Vaccine Brands for 2nd Booster
1. Pfizer
2. Moderna
3. Astrazeneca

With this, the city government highly encourages everyone to get their booster doses for extra protection against COVID-19. For inquiries regarding vaccination sites and operating hours, please contact the VCVax Hotline at 8-822-2463 or your local health stations.

As of writing, the available vaccine brands in the city are Pfizer and Sinovac.
