In order to achieve peace and order through responsible gun ownership, the Valenzuela City Police Station launches its 1st Chief of Police (COP) Cup at the National Food Authority (NFA) Shooting Range, Barangay Malanday, March 24-25.

PSSUPT Ronaldo R Mendoza, Valenzuela City Chief of Police, led the opening of the shootfest which was participated in by 304 shooting aficionados from different cities and provinces.

According to PSSUPT Mendoza, the activity will benefit both the police and the civilians.

“We organized this First Chief of Police Cup purposely para ma-enhance ‘yung shooting skills ng mga pulis natin and [para] ma-develop [ang] camaraderie within the police rank. In addition, para magkaroon tayo ng collaboration with the community especially sa mga gun holder, to promote responsible gun ownership (We organized this First Chief of Police Cup purposely to enhance the shooting skills of our policemen and to develop camaraderie with the police rank. In addition, to have a collaboration with the community especially with the gun holders, to promote responsible gun ownership),” PSSUPT Mendoza explained.

PSSUPT Mendoza also added that the fund raised from this event will be allotted to skills and development enhancement programs and community projects of the Valenzuela City Police Station.

Meanwhile, Valenzuela City Police Inspector Albert Juanillo Jr. explained that the 1st COP Cup was a good practice for them.

Malaki ang maitutulong ng ganitong experience [para sa aming mga pulis] na kung magiging actual ito sa labas, may encounter, at least alam namin ang gagawin namin (This experience is a big help to us policemen since we will be knowledgeable on what to do if there’s an encounter),” PINSP Juanillo said.

Mr. Ronald Velasquez, a government employee from Manila, shared his experience in the activity.

Masaya naman kasi most of the time magkakaroon ka ng mga [bagong] kaibigan (It is an enjoyable experience since you’ll earn [new] friends),” Mr. Velasquez said.
