The City Government of Valenzuela under the leadership of Mayor WES Gatchalian has once again conferred with the most coveted Seal of Good Local Governance by the Department of the Interior and Local Government during the awarding ceremony at the Manila Hotel, December 9.

Valenzuela City is one of the 14 Cities in the National Capital Region, and one of the 96 cities in the whole Philippines that was recognized for passing the “All-in” assessment approach of the ten (10) governance areas, namely Financial Administration and Sustainability; Disaster Preparedness; Social Protection and Sensitivity; Health Compliance and Responsiveness; Sustainable Education; BusinessFriendliness and Competitiveness; Safety, Peace and Order; Environmental Management; Tourism, Heritage Development, Culture and Arts; and Youth Development.

In his message, DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla graced the awarding ceremony and exclaimed his warmest congratulations to the awardees, “Congratulations sa lahat ng awardees. Make this a symbol that you ran a good government – you ran a clean government and an effective government.”

As one of the awardees, Valenzuela City will take home the prestigious SGLG marker alongside the SGLG Incentive Fund of PhP 2 Million for the city level to finance high-impact local development projects supportive of the ten governance areas.

Mayor WES Gatchalian, on the other hand, acknowledged all the department heads and the city hall employees who worked hard not only to get the seal but who always do their best to serve the Valenzuelanos better.

An institutionalized award, incentive, honor, and recognition-based program,  the Seal of Good Local Governance, in virtue of the Republic Act No, 11292 or the SGLG Act of 2019, encourages LGUs’ commitment to progress and improve their performance along various governance areas continuously.

This recognition is a testament to the City Government’s dedication in delivering and upholding good governance, integrity, and outstanding public service at all times for every Pamilyang Valenzuelano.
