After the official launch of the #VCGuroAko application initiated by then Mayor and now Congressman REX Gatchalian on April 28, 2022, which aims to solve the existing problems that the teachers of Valenzuela City are facing today, the City Government of Valenzuela gears up with the distribution of over 4,000 units of laptops to be given for the teachers, July 22. The VCGuroAko portal is already installed in the laptop. The app is designed to make the shouldered responsibility of the educators easier as well as giving them convenience at work.
Valenzuela City local government innovates ways to cope up against the challenge that the pandemic had put on the table. Because of the law that prohibits the students from physically going to school, the national government introduced the blended learning, wherein the students will do home schooling or attend their classes through online medium, or a blend of the two.
Most of the LGUs all over the Metro seeks for solutions, Valenzuela City designed an application that will ease up the reporting woes of teachers.
The VCGuroAko application is the first ever LGU-initiated digital education portal in the country. It is outlined to provide ease to the teachers in the new normal way of learning and teaching today. It has all the needed tools such as, grades encoding, announcements, events calendar, lesson plans, class records, and reports generation, among others.
Mayor WES Gatchalian and the city council through the help of Department of Education (DepEd) - Valenzuela, gave away 1,200 laptops to the first batch of the beneficiaries.
In his remarks during the distribution, Mayor WES acknowledged the support of the Department of Education knowing that these given laptops are really great help for increasing the productivity and for their convenience.
“Ito po ang solusyon para gawing mabilis pa lalo ang trabaho ng ating mga guro. Kaya po, I hope sa support na natanggap natin sa lokal na pamahalaan ay balikan rin natin ng suporta ang lokal na pamahalaan, sa pamamagitan po ng paggamit ng ating VCGuroAko,” Mayor WES stated. [This is the solution for speeding up the work of our teachers. So, I hope that with the support we have received from the local government, we will also return the support to the local government, by using our VCGuroAko]
From a point of view of a senior high school teacher, Ms. Rachel Mendoza appreciates this kind of initiatives of the local government to help their tasks become trouble-free. Fully aware of the hardships that the blended learning gives to the educators like her, this would be a great assistance to them.
“Bilang teacher ng Senior High School, napakalaking bagay sa akin na mabigyan kami ng pagkakataon na magkaroon ng laptop na magagamit namin lalo na sa panahon ngayon na nagkaroon tayo ng blended learning,” Ms. Mendoza said. [As a Senior High School teacher, it is very important that we are given the opportunity to have a laptop that we can use especially in today's time when we have blended learning]
Congressman REX Gatchalian, on the other hand, visited the teachers’ training and testing of the laptops in the morning. “So, sana gamitin niyo. Make it more productive. Remember ‘yung sinabi ko sa inyo last May, more time with the app means less time doing reports kasi it’s fully automated,” Mayor REX advised the teachers in maximizing the capacity of the application. [So, I hope that you’ll use it. Make it more productive. Remember what I’ve told you last May, more time with the app means less time doing reports because it’s fully automated]
The allocation of laptops will keep up in the next coming days until the remaining pledged units were completely disseminated to all the beneficiaries.
