Valenzuela City continues its time-honored gift-giving tradition for its 58,014 senior citizens as it launches “Pasko sa Hulyo Para Kay Lolo at Lola” on July 17.

In its initial run, a total of 6,353 elderlies from Barangays Arkong Bato, Balangkas, Bisig, Mabolo, Tagalag, Poblacion, Polo, Pariancillo Villa, Palasan, Isla, Wawang Pulo, and Malanday received two 5-kg. packs of rice as their early pamasko from the City Government. The rice distribution will last until July 26, 2021.

The project aims to ensure that the aged adults from all 33 barangays of Valenzuela City are healthy and properly nourished especially during this ongoing COVID-19 crisis.

As with the earlier food pack distributions, “Pasko sa Hulyo” operates under the food voucher distribution system. Door-to-door delivery of the vouchers started as early as June. The vouchers carry details such as the redemption site, date, and time to ensur that physical distancing and venue capacity are observed.

Beneficiaries are requested to designate their closest relative to claim the rice packs from the venue only on the day and time assigned to them. Only one (1) representative may redeem the Christmas treat and children are strictly prohibited from doing so. The representative must present a valid ID, the “Pasko sa Hulyo” food voucher, the ID issued by the Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA), and an authorization letter signed by the senior citizen when redeeming the gift pack.

Representatives are also reminded to observe minimum health protocols such as wearing face masks and face shields and standing at least one meter away from each other while at the redemption site.

Only lolos and lolas residing in Valenzuela and are registered with the OSCA by May 7, 2021 are qualified to receive rice packs from the City.
