Valenzuela City honored 20 Top Business Taxpayers and 31 Top Job Providers in an annual recognition ceremony for their significant contributions in elevating the service standards of the City Government.
Mayor Sherwin T. Gatchalian views the program as “a humble tribute to the awardees’ responsible and responsive efforts in fuelling the city’s resilient performance on governance.”
Awarded at the Museo Valenzuela as part of the celebration of the City’s 14th Charter Day Anniversary, the night, also became a salutation to the successful socio-centric collaboration between the local government and its allies in the private sector to fuel the city towards progress.
Giving merits to the top taxpayers is an established annual tradition, while the recognition for the top job providers is a breakthrough initiative of the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) this year.
PESO Manager, Ms. Luningning Martin stressed in one of her panel reports that, “it is high time for our partner-employers to be commended for their unwavering support on the job placement projects for our unemployed and underemployed constituents.”
It is attributable to the consistent surge of job opportunities from our partner-companies that PESO Valenzuela was hailed by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) as the “Best Employment Office in NCR,” for having turned-over a 77.6 percent hiring rate in 2009.
The Top Job Providers Awards launched five citations this year, namely: Employer for All Season, PESO Loyalty Award, Jobs Fairs Employer of the Year, Jobs Fairs On-the-Spot Hirer of the Year and SPES Program Supporter.
Recognized by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the World Bank as one of 2011’s Business-Friendly Cities in the Philippines, the City of Valenzuela does not welcome any room for complacency that could tarnish this achievement.
Mayor WIN remains steadfast on strengthening the local government’s ties with the Top Taxpayers of Valenzuela for “they are considered as the true assets and resource-generators of our economy.”
Modification was made on the traditional categories for the Top Taxpayers Awards this year. The seven categories used in the previous ceremonies were streamlined into four based on capital outlay: the Micro Companies, with capitalization of up to PhP 3 Million; Small Companies, with capitalization of more than PhP 3 Million to PhP 15 Million; Medium Companies, with capitalization of more than PhP 15 Million to PhP 100 Million; and Large Companies with capitalization of more than PhP 100 Million.
Each awardees received a sculpture trophy by artist Roen B.Capule. The “Pagyabong,” for the Top Taxpayers, which represents the sustained development of the City of Valenzuela and the continuous realization of the aspiration to uplift the lives of its constituents with the nurturing assistance from the valued honest taxpayers who are part of the foundation of the city.
The Top Job Providers, on the other hand, received the “Sandigan,” which symbolizes how the City Government of Valenzuela and its partner job providers work hand-in-hand in building a better future for all Valenzuelanos.
Joining Mayor WIN in handling the awards were 1stDistrict Representative, Cong. REX Gatchalian and the Secretary of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), the Honorable Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz who commended the city mayor’s commitment to provide jobs for unemployed Valenzuelanos.
