LOVE IS IN THE AIR! Aligned with the celebration of Valenzuela City’s 26th Charter Day and Valentine’s Day, a total of 163 Valenzuelano couples celebrated their love and were wedded simultaneously in the “Kasalang Bayan” officiated by Mayor WES Gatchalian; happened at event places Casa de Polo and La Rosa Pavilion, February 14, 2024.

There were seventy (70) Valenzuelano couples from District 1 and ninety-three (93) couples from District 2 that tied the knot in the mass wedding ceremony, “Kasalang Bayan”, in line with the 26th Charter Day celebration of Valenzuela City. The ceremonies were held at the recently opened events place Casa de Polo in Barangay Poblacion for District I, and La Rosa Pavilion in Barangay Gen. T. de Leon for District 2.

Mayor WES Gatchalian officiated the wedding rites of the 163 couples which were witnessed by the City Council and the families of the newly-wedded pairs. This free civil wedding program of the City Government is being held annually and is available for Valenzuelanos who yearn to wed their partners. The processing of documents and application fees for marriage licenses were free. Alongside, the local government also provided flowers, catering, and wedding pictures with frames for the couples.

To make their honeymoon more special and memorable, newlyweds were granted free accommodation in a hotel located in Quezon City. Lastly, the City Government has also given them SM Gift Certificates worth Php 500 and a grocery package as part of their wedding gifts.

The call for applications from aspiring Valenzuelano couples began last January wherein each applicant must submit the requirements for a Marriage License to join the civil wedding program. As part of securing a Marriage License, the pairs underwent the mandatory Family Planning Seminars and Marriage Counseling facilitated by the City Health Office, City Social Welfare Development Office, and the Local Civil Registry last February 1.

The “Kasalang Bayan” is one of the events of the City Government for the month-long celebration of the city’s 26th Charter Day commemorated every 14th of February.
