City Government of Valenzuela awards the six centenarians in the city at the AVR, Legislative
Building, Valenzuela City Hall, on October 28, 2022.

The Office of The Senior Citizens Affair (OSCA), City Social Welfare and Development Office
(CSWDO), and Mayor WES Gatchalian granted PhP 50,000 for each centenarian. This is a yearly
ceremony every month of October in time for the celebration of the Elderly Filipino Week.

Aside from the Republic Act No. 10868, also known as the “Centenarian Act of 2016” which
mandates to gift centenarians the amount of PhP 100,000, the City Government of Valenzuela
grants another PhP 50,000 as an additional incentive for the centenarians. This is under
Ordinance No. 300, Series of 2016, or the “Centenarian Ordinance of Valenzuela City”. Which
was amended by Ordinance No. 652, Series of 2020, which raises the cash incentive from PhP
20,000 to PhP 50,000 for each recipient. Centenarians will receive the cash incentive every
month of October.

This year’s centenarians 2022 are Alvenida Gregoria (100 years old) from Barangay Ugong, Kam
Ang (102 years old) from Barangay Karuhatan, Bernarda Liwanag (102 years old) from Barangay
Karuhatan, Lourdes Miranda (102 years old) from Barangay Malinta, Apolonia De Josef (102
years old) from Barangay Mapulang Lupa, and Matus Marta (103 years old) from Barangay
Wawang Pulo.

The City’s centenarians also received food and toiletries grocery from the Alliances Senior
Citizens of Valenzuela, Philippines.

Also, present during the event are 2nd District Councilor Mickey Pineda and CSWDO Head
Dorothy Evangelista.

CSWDO alongside OSCA are now in preparation for the Pamaskong Handog para kina Lolo at
Lola 2022 that will take place this December. This is a yearly tradition of the City Government of
Valenzuela that will benefit over 60,000 registered senior citizens all over the city.
