Paving the way for another historic celebration, the City of Valenzuela begins the commemoration of its 401st founding anniversary through a Civic Reception followed by a solemn procession in honor of patron saints at Pistang Bayan 2024, held at San Diego de Alcala Parish. The Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines, Most Reverend Charles John Brown, D.D., graced the event and presided over the First Novena.
Paying tribute to 401 successful years since its founding day, the City of Valenzuela celebrates with a prayerful thanksgiving with the Pamilyang Valenzuelanos.
The Pistang Bayan 2024, with the theme “401 Taong Pagpapala ng Diyos sa Parokya ng San Diego de Alcala, Sambayanang Naglalakbay na Magkakakaagapay”, officially started with the Civic Reception and the First Novena presided over by the Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines, Most Reverend Charles John Brown, D.D., who personally visited San Diego de Alcala Parish at Barangay Polo. The holy mass was followed by a solemn procession, in honor of the patron saints of the Sub-Parish Pastoral Council (SPPC) from different barangays.
The event marked the beginning of the week-long celebration of Valenzuela City’s 401st Founding Anniversary, from November 3 to November 12, 2024. Commemorating years since its foundation, the San Diego de Alcala Parish has prepared several festivities in line including the Misa Novenario presided over by invited bishops and archbishops; Rosary and Novena in honor of San Diego de Alcala; Pasikatan 2024: Battle of the Bands; free surgical, medical, and dental mission; Pangkulturang Pagtatanghal “Noches de Patrimonio: A Dinner for a Cause”; “Siglos de Gracia” Exhibit; Pagalingan 2024: Marching Band Competition; and the unveiling of the historical marker of San Diego de Alcala.
Vice Mayor Lorie Natividad-Borja and Councilor Ricar Enriquez joined the celebration along with the patrons of San Diego de Alcala. The feast for this year is headed by the Hemana Mayor 2024, Ms. Belinda Bernardino Bartolome.
