With its 11th fire station now open, Valenzuela City is now just one more fire station away from meeting international fire response standards.
The city government on Saturday, October 5, inaugurated its 11th fire station in Sto. Rosario Street, Barangay Mapulang Lupa, along with its 12th police community precinct (PCP).
Bureau of Fire Protection Officer-in-Charge, Carlito Romero and Northern Police District Chief of Directorial Staff, Robert Quenerey were the guests of honor of the ceremonies.
Romero said international fire response standards prescribe a fire station for every 50,000 population in urban areas so the fire-fighting unit could reach the place of incident within five minutes.
The National Statistics Office reports Valenzuela City has an estimated current population of 605,379, which would need at least 12 fire stations.
Romero also commended the local fire department for the frequent trainings among Valenzuela City fire fighters that number 24 per month, or around one per day.
Meanwhile, Mayor REX T. Gatchalian said the newly inaugurated fire station and PCP and the barangay hall next door make Mapulang Lupa the only barangay in the city with a government complex, or government offices found in one place. The city government is now buying parcels of land so similar complexes could be built in every barangay in the city, he said.
