Small job fairs, such as the one the Job Generation Office in Valenzuela City is holding on June 27 at the city hall, have their own advantages.

Sheena Rose Dulatas, administrative officer at the JGO, said small job fairs attract fewer job applicants than their bigger counterparts, the often-called “mega job fairs” held in malls and participated in by a hundred companies, so applicants face less competition and have better chances of being hired.

Seven companies are participating in the JGO’s “in-house” job fair at the Legislative Building’s Audio Visual Room: tank manufacturer Bestank Manufacturing Corp.; manufacturer Flexible Packaging Products Corp.; restaurant chain Mang Inasal; paper products manufacturer Multipack Container Inc.; fast-moving consumer goods distributor MC Empire, Inc.; employment agency Symanpro Manpower Services Contractor Corp., and goods distributor Woodhaven Corp.

The vacancies at these companies fall under the following lines of work: accounting, administrative, engineering, logistics, marketing, production work, and sales.

The job fair being an exclusive for the members of ValenzuelaTrabaho.gov.ph, the city government’s official job search web site, the applicant must first have an account at the web site and the membership card to be admitted in it.

Last year, the Job Generation Office held four in-house job fairs where a total of 56 employees were hired by companies like GFI Enterprise, Inc., SPi Global, Gerry’s Grill- SM Marilao, Expert Global Solutions, SM Watsons, ARC Refreshments Corporations and PG Manpower Agency.

As of May 24, ValenzuelaTrabaho members number 8,685. It has 285 employers and 1,188 active job vacancies. A total of 1,371 have been hired from January to May through the job portal.
