Two new satellite government offices, the 3S (Sentro ng Sama-samang Serbisyo) Centers, have been recently opened in Barangays Gen. T. de Leon and Marulas, as part the city’s commemoration of the 147th Birth Anniversary of local hero, Dr. Pio Valenzuela.
These two new “little city halls” bring to 13 the total number of operating 3S Centers in Valenzuela City.
City officials say facilities of this kind will be especially useful in the delivery of public service in these barangays which have the most number of dwellers in the locality. Based on the 2015 data from the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Gen. T. de Leon has the highest population in Valenzuela, with 89,441 residents, followed by Barangay Marulas, with 53, 978 residents.
The Marulas 3S Center, inaugurated on July 14, houses a fire substation, police community precinct, health station, day care center, satellite rescue and social welfare offices, senior citizens office, and multipurpose hall. The construction of a tricycle terminal is underway.
On the other hand, the Gen. T. de Leon 3S Center, inaugurated on July 15, has a Bantay Bayan outpost, police community precinct, health station, day care center, satellite social welfare and development office, and multipurpose hall.
Both 3S Centers hold (a) local offices of 2nd District Representative Eric Martinez; (b) “Serbisyo Centers,” which are the satellite payment and service centers for the Local Civil Registry, the City Treasurer (for the processing of cedula requests and real property tax payments) and the Business Permits and Licensing Office; (c) and Alternative Learning System classrooms.
The first 3S Center in Valenzuela was opened in Barangay Polo on September 25, 2014. Since then, similar city hall annexes have been continuously built in Barangays Bagbaguin, Bignay, Dalandanan, Karuhatan, Lawang Bato, Malanday, Maysan, Parada, Punturin and Ugong.
The City Engineer’s Office reports five more 3S Centers are set to open this year.
