Traffic management officers from the Valenzuela City Traffic Management Division (TMD) completed a 15-day Basic Motorcycle Riding Course at the City External Services Office (CESO) on August 22, to further professionalize their driving skills and up-skill them to become members of the motorcycle traffic enforcers in the city.
The two-week equipping course training includes defensive driving, escorting, parading, and other disciplines. The 14 traffic enforcers together with the TMD officials held a city ride to familiarize themselves to the traffic management routes. From CESO, the group made their way to the NLEX Segment 9 in MacArthur Highway, then on the roads of Marulas, Gen. T. de Leon, Ugong, Mapulang Lupa, Bagbaguin, Lawang Bato, Punturin, Bignay, Lingunan, Veinte Reales and G. Lazaro St. in Dalandanan, then back to CESO.
Head Instructor Marlo Dulap said that the training was conducted in order to instill further knowledge and discipline among the city traffic enforcers, especially when it comes to proper road and traffic management. Dulap said, “We wanted to develop their personalities for them be more efficient and courteous to our road users. We also aim to increase our enforcers’ visibility in the city.”
Since the time of then-Mayor and now Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, Valenzuela City remains the only local government unit in Metro Manila with a local traffic management group that does not entirely rely on the traffic personnel deployed by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).
This year’s Batch 8-Magiting is the third batch that underwent the up-skill training under the term of Mayor REX Gatchalian.
Valenzuela TMD has a total of 254 enforcers, 123 of which are motorcycle traffic enforcers who roam around the city for road monitoring and operations.
