After six days of thorough investigation, the identity of Baby Jade’s mother has been uncovered by the Valenzuela City police force, through the “Task Force Baby Jade” composed of Station Investigation Unit (SIU), Women and Children’s Protection Desk (WCPD), Station Patrol Operative Section (SPOS) and Police Community Precinct (PCP) 3, with the assistance from the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), August 31, 2016.

“Baby Jade” was the newborn baby who was found alive wrapped in a plastic bag dumped into a trash can inside Jade Garden Townhomes, an exclusive gated community at Don Pedro, Barangay Marulas, Valenzuela City last August 25.

City Mayor REX Gatchalian ordered the local police to find the culprits of the crime in the soonest possible time.  The team went to the place where the baby was found to conduct a profiling of the residents and they were able to pinpoint the mother of the baby whose privacy is being kept under the name “Mother Jade”.

The woman is now in an isolated room at the Valenzuela City Emergency Hospital (VCEH) in Barangay Dalandanan for proper medical attention.  She is showing symptoms of “postpartum depression” and is currently undergoing Neuropsychiatric Tests and counseling.

CSWDO head, Ms. Dorothy Evangelista said that aside from the full support of the local government to Baby Jade, the condition of the mother is also being monitored because of her delicate condition, both physically and emotionally.

“Mother Jade” is scheduled for an inquest tomorrow before the City Prosecutor’s Office, September 2 where she will be charged with frustrated infanticide.  After which, she will remain in the hospital for continued medication.  The police are also pursuing the angle that other people may have been involved in the crime.

“Baby Jade”, on the other hand, is still being observed at the Valenzuela City Medical Center where she is still under a comatose state.  However, according to VMC Chief, Dr. Imelda Muriel Mateo, the baby’s vital signs have improved considerably that transferring her to a bigger and better hospital, such as the Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC) is possible anytime soon.

The local government will shoulder all the medical expenses of the baby.  “All financial donations from good Samaritans will go to a trust fund for her future after she has surpassed the ordeal she is bravely battling on,” Mayor REX ended.
