The successful implementation of peace and order programs of the Valenzuela City Police Station (VCPS) was the key inspiration of the local government’s 22^nd National Crime Prevention Week celebration which kicked off on September 1.

A motorcade of cops, a Memorandum of Agreement signing for the creation of the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams (BPAT), and the launch of PO1 Fatima mascot were the highlights of the celebration.

The Memorandum of Agreement between VCPS and select socio-civic organizations that form part of BPAT enables the parties to formulate plans and programs anchored on VCPS goals. BPAT shall participate in the anti-crime monitoring activities organized by VCPS and shall provide assistance for the fast delivery of basic safety services.

PSSupt Rolando Mendoza commended the police force for reducing crimes in the city. He also called for the help of different socio-civic organizations, religious organizations, business groups and even ordinary citizens, to take part in the social responsibility of preventing crimes.

Valenzuela City chief of police also stressed that the fight against crime and drug is not just the job of the police alone, and that everyone should be involved as well.

Since August 8, the Valenzuela Police have arrested 130 drug pushers and users, while 500 have surrendered to the authorities. Reports from the VCPS also show that crime rates for robbery, theft, carnapping and motornapping have reduced drastically this year compared to the statistics in 2014 and 2015.  As of August 28, there were 365 filed cases at the police station. In 2014 and 2015 data, there were 1,191 and 808 respectively.

PSSupt Mendoza is optimistic that the Valenzuela Ayaw sa Droga (VAD) campaign will be successful through the help and support of the local government, force multipliers, and other stakeholders. Under the VAD Program, the local government and the local police station jointly committed to make Valenzuela a drug-free city in 90 days.

The VCPS motorcade with mascot SPO1 Valenzuela, the city’s ambassador of goodwill, was held from the Tullahan River site along MacArthur Highway in Barangay Marulas to Valenzuela City Astrodome in Barangay Dalandanan. After the mobile parade, PO1 Valenzuela’s new counterpart cop, PO1 Fatima, was officially introduced to the public, to symbolize VCPS’ campaign against illegal drugs in the city.
