Policemen from the Valenzuela City Police Station (VCPS) receive refresher training on legal proceedings to increase the conviction rate of drug pushers in the city.

A total of 120 policemen from the VCPS have successfully finished the “Back to Basic Seminars: Breakthrough on Cue” on Friday, September 9 at the Social Hall.

The training, which was spearheaded by the Valenzuela Anti-Drug Abuse Council (VADAC), delved on educating Valenzuela cops on handling drug related cases from field operations to court proceedings. The topics that were tackled include moot court, testifying in court, court observation and guidelines, drug situation, warranted arrest and search warrant.

Mayor REX Gatchalian announced on the first day of the training that the local government shall be willing to award Php 100,000.00 cash incentive to policemen or police teams who shall be able to reach the conviction of drug pushers in courts. The purpose of this incentive is to motivate and empower police officers in putting an end to the drug menace in the city by ensuring that drug criminals are duly penalized.

The up-training is a collaborative project the City Government of Valenzuela, the VCPS, the City Prosecutor’s Office and the Regional Trial Court, as part of the campaign of making Valenzuela a drug-free city in 90 days.

Majority of the training participants were from the PNP Valenzuela - Station Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Group (SAID-SOTG) and police officers from the police community precincts in the city. The training ran for five Fridays from August 5 to September 2.
