On February 24, 2017, NMYL commission on elections headed by chairman Manuel Q. Gotis officially proclaimed the unopposed Councilor Alejandrino as the national president before more than 900 young legislators from the whole country.

NMYL National Secretary General April Marie C. Dayap, Davao City Councilor expressed her joy with the result of the election, “this just proves how united we are in our organization and right now, there is no other person fit to lead us but Pres. Marlon.”

Moreover, Vice President Leni Robredo also graced the event with her presence and stated how vital the role of young legislators is in the development of a local government.

NMYL is a 7,000 strong league of elected young lawmakers aged 40 years old and below, such as vice governors, vice mayors, provincial board members, city and municipal councilors, and sanguniang kabataan and association of barangay captains federation presidents.
