Amidst gloomy weather and continuous rain, warm smiles and ‘thank yous’ poured during the inauguration of the computer laboratories in six high schools in Valenzuela City, November 9, 2017.

Mayor REX Gatchalian, together with the Schools Division Office of Valenzuela, headed the ribbon cutting and blessing ceremonies of the new computer laboratories in Malanday National High School (MNHS), Veinte Reales National High School (VRNHS), Lingunan National High School (LNHS), Disiplina Village Bignay National High School (DVBNHS), Paso de Blas National High School (PDBNHS), and Justice Eliezer Delos Santos National High School (JEDSNHS) in the boundary of Barangays Gen. T. De Leon and Ugong.

Each school received 50 brand new Dell desktop computer units, two printers and a projector. All labs are equipped with broadband internet connection. The City Engineering Office also allotted funds for the renovation of the rooms for the computer labs complete with tiled floors and air conditioning units. More than PhP 22 Million was shelled out by the city government for the actualization of the new computer labs.

Joross Almazar, a grade seven student from LNHS expressed his delight with the new sets of computers, printers and projectors that they will be able to utilize, “without the support of our Mayor, this will not be possible, and we will not be here. This also shows that if a city is progressive, the education system is equally progressive,” he said.

“We will never have second doubts in investing for our schools,” said Mayor REX. He assured the students that if they continue to get good grades, top academic and extra-curricular competitions, bring in medals and pride for Valenzuela, the city government will not stop giving their schools world-class and innovative facilities.

The event was part of the celebration of the 394th Foundation Day Anniversary of Valenzuela City.
