Valenzuela City’s transparent stance in governance through resourceful tax collection efforts and honest utilization of the same has landed itself, for two years in a row now, at the nation’s top in the recently released Revenue Collection Efficiency ranking for the Fiscal Year 2017.

The City ranked first in Local Revenue Collection Efficiency in the National Capital Region (NCR) and second among all the cities nationwide with a total of Php 2,818,878,767.74 as per Statement of Receipts and Expenditures (SRE) system. This was a 44.1-percent jump from the Overall Total Local Revenue Target amounting to Php 1,955,807,929.06.

It also registered the highest sum in the Real Property Taxes (RPT) in the region, besting 16 other local government units (LGUs). A total of Php 1,512,131,425.48 was collected last year, exceeding the target of Php 656,525,696.75 to register a record-high 230.3 percent collection efficiency.

Being handed over annually by the Department of Finance (DOF) - Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF), these recognitions are given in appreciation of the local government’s initiatives, through its Treasurer and Assessor Offices, to continue steering its revenue generation efforts towards better local governance and efficient public service.

More than the citation and the glory of holding the plaque of recognition, efficient and transparent tax collection assures the timely delivery of services for the Valenzuelanos and the deployment of priority projects for the City.

Mayor REX Gatchalian thanked all the Valenzuelano taxpayers who believe in the LGU’s truthful governance and honestly pay their taxes up to the last centavo. He promises to launch more trailblazing initiaitives in the coming years to prove them that their contribution are valued and well-utilized.

Valenzuela City Treasurer, Ms. Adelia Soriano ,and City Assessor, Atty. Cecilynne Andrade received the citations during the awarding ceremonies held at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City earlier today, December 17, 2018.
