With its full support to the City’s senior citizens, the City Government of Valenzuela awards cash incentives up to PhP 50,000 to its 12 centenarian residents at the Valenzuela City Hall last October 30.

Mayor REX Gatchalian distributes the cash incentive in the amount of PhP 50, 000 for each centenarian in time for the celebration of the Elderly Filipino Week.

The local government has been giving out cash incentives to its Valenzuelano centenarians since the passage of Ordinance No. 300, Series of 2016, or the Centenarian Ordinance of Valenzuela City.

This wa
s amended by Ordinance No. 652, Series of 2020, which raises the cash incentive from PhP 20,000 to PhP 50,000 for each centenarian due to the continuous economic inflation and for other economic considerations. Centenarians will receive the cash incentive once every year.

Of the 12 centenarian residents, seven (7) just turned 100 years old this year while three (3) are 101 and two (2) are 102 years old, all hailing from the different barangays of the City.

The City Government of Valenzuela fully supports our senior citizens by ensuring that all benefits intended for them are given for their total well-being and full participation in society.

Aside from granting cash incentives for the City’s centenarians, the local government has been true to its promise to provide benefits to all Valenzuelano senior citizens through the Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA). This includes the annual tradition of Pasko Sa Hulyo Para Kay Lolo at Lola – this year being Food Packs Para Kay Lolo at Lola, where around 57,000 senior citizens received food packs filled with canned goods and rice back in July.

This is set to be followed by Handog Pamasko Para Kay Lolo at Lola 2020 this December.
